Initial Payments
How much is the initial payment to book?
$100, and this goes toward your final cost. This covers any time spent up to our shoot.
Why are your initial payments non-refundable?
In the case that you cancel your shoot, the $100 covers my time up to the shoot including any location scouting, emailing and communication before, and holding your date which is no longer available to other clients. The initial payment is just to keep cancelations to a minimum. The travel fees and studio fees are also non refundable in the event that you do not show up to your session.
Is there ever a time that the initial payment IS refundable?
If a cancelation of your shoot is necessary (family emergency, bad weather, sickness, etc.) we will try our best to reschedule sometime with in six months but preferably as soon as possible. If, for some reason, a reschedule is NOT possible (you are from out of town), I will refund the initial payment. You must work with the photographer to reschedule. If you choose to not respond, a refund will not be given.
Does the $100 go toward my final cost?
Yes! This is not an additional cost. Just an upfront payment and comes out of the entire balance. The remaining is due the day of the shoot.
We booked for a family of 4, but now we want an extended family session instead. Do I lose my initial payment?
No! We can switch your session if needed. Just be aware that switching the type of session will probably change the price, and your remaining balance may go up.
I need to reschedule! Do I need to pay another initial payment?
Not always! If you are rescheduling at least one week in advance, have an illness, family emergency, or the shoot is rescheduled by the photographer, there is no additional payment required. Rescheduling with less than a week to the shoot, choosing to cancel because of weather when the photographer does not think a reschedule is needed, or rescheduling for the 3rd time, will require a new initial payment.
During your session
What if I am late?
Arriving late will cut into your photoshoot time. If I haven't heard from you, (either because of lack of comminication, or we are meeting in an area with no service and I cannot receive your texts) I will wait a MAX time amount of 20 minutes before leaving. Your session will then be canceled and you lose your deposit plus any travel or photography fees associated with that location. I will wait longer than 20 minutes if you are able to contact me to tell me you will be x amount of minutes late, but your session will still end at hour after the original start time. If we are meeting in a location with no service, it is best to contact me as soon as you know you are running behind to avoid a canceled session.
After your photography session
What is your turn around time?
I will have pictures edited and sent to you digitally in an online gallery within one week of our session. For weddings or events, please allow up to 2 weeks.
What if I want something photoshopped in one of my photos?
When editing any session except for weddings and receptions, I will photoshop out people and other distracting things in the background. I only edit out a few blemishes if requested. If there is anything else you would like to request, such as removing logos off of shirts, additional blemish removal, slimming down, etc., there is a $5-$10 charge per image depending on the work being requested, but most of the time its $5/image. You may send a list via email of the image numbers and the request after being sent your gallery. New photos will not be sent out until payment has been received.
Payment
How should I pay you?
My preferred methods of payment are with venmo or cash. Other payment methods include Paypal and credit card. I do not accept checks.
When do I pay you?
A $100 initial payment is due to book your spot, and the remaining balance will be due on the day of your session. If payment is not received the day of, I will send a venmo request the following day. Images will not be released unless full payment is made.
Are there any discounts available?
Yes! Referrals will get you a discount.
- Referrals: Get a $25 credit to use at your session within one year for referring someone who books, or $100 for referring a wedding that books with me.
How much are your travel fees?
Travel fees vary based on location, time and miles. When locations are sent out, any additional fees will be included with that location so it isn't a surprise at the end.
Family sessions
Does the photographer pick the images?
Yes, I will pick and edit the images.
Do I get to pick the location?
Yes! Unless you picked a mini session, you will be picking the location from a list I will send you after booking. If you chose a mini session, the location will be chosen for you based on the date you choose.
Can I show you a Pinterest board of the images I like?
You can choose your favorite 1-2 images and we will try to get them. Every family and session is different. Pinterest is is a great resource but it is full of photographers' very best and favorite shot from their session, so to expect a whole pinterest board of the very best work from multiple photographers is just unrealistic and it doesn't allow me to use my own creativity during the shoot, resulting in everyone being unhappy.
What can I expect with my family session?
Full family sessions come with tons of variety! We take lots of posed and candid family shots, mom and dad only, siblings only, individuals of children, mom and kids, dad and kids, mom and daughter/sons, dad and daughter/sons, and lots of candid shots inbetween. I like to get more of our posed, smiling pictures right in the beginning when all the kids are the happiest. After we start to lose their attention, we play lots of games and get more candid shots. These pictures are so fun, and will capture your family playing and laughing together! Mini sessions will have significanly less playing and candid photos, and less opportunity for images like mom and daughters, etc.
What can I expect with my extended family session?
Extended family sessions come with the following shoot list:
- At least one shot of the whole group
- Grandkids only
- Grandparents and Grandkids
- Around 3 poses of each individual family
- Siblings together from each individual family
- Parents together of each individual family
- All adult siblings together
Extended family sessions with over 20 people do not come with individual portraits of each person (headshots) unless the person is single or the child is an only child, or special posing, such as mom and daughters, of each individual family. Headshots can be added on for $5/person. Special posing can be added on for $10 per grouping.
How can I prepare for my family session?
You will receive an outfit guide and info on how to prepare after booking.
What should I wear to my family session?
One of the perks of booking with me is that I send you an outfit at the time of booking! This will go over colors, patterns and textures to help you figure out what to wear.
How can I help things go smoother during our family session?
The best thing you can do is to play and have fun with your kids. Your kids will feed off of your energy. Make this a fun experience for them by being happy and playful rather than scolding them. I've been doing this for a long time and the best results always come from families who play and giggle together. You can also refer to
this page here, for more information. Just scroll to the bottom!
How can we coordinate outfits with our big extended family?
I know this can be tough! Depending on the size of your family, pick 1-3 main colors, and you can mix with ANY neutrals. Have each family dress themselves to coordinate with each other. Don't worry about picking the exact color - rather than giving everyone a paint swatch to go off of, just tell them BLUE. Then when people show up in multiple shades of blue, it will add interest! It will all flow, I promise.
Wedding Packages
How can I prepare for my bridal session?
I highly recommend doing whatever you are doing for your wedding, also doing for your bridal session. This means a bouquet, makeup, hair, everything! These are the pictures you will print and always look back at.
What should I bring to our bridal session?
Its super helpful to have someone come with you to help hold things, like your mom or sister or friend! They can help with your dress, and making sure hair is in the right place. I would also suggest bringing a bouquet, a jacket in the cold months, water in the hot months, and bobby pins just in case your hair comes loose. Also any lipstick or lipgloss if you think you might want to reapply it.
What should I bring to our engagement session?
Its always fun to bring a blanket for sitting pictures but its not necessary. Considering bringing a change of clothes as well so you can get two outfits in. Just bring your best attitude and be ready to cuddle up with your partner.
What can I expect during our reception?
During wedding receptions I wander around the venue to capture lots of candids of guests, decor, and any group shots you might want with friends and family. I fully expect to be warned before any major events take place if you do not provide me with a schedule, such as cutting the cake, so that I have time to get my lighting set up before it happens.
What group pictures do you take during the wedding?
Shot lists typically include the following (the groups with a star next to it usually only happen with temple weddings)
- Entire group *
- Bride's entire family *
- Bride's immediate family
- Bride's siblings
- Bride's parents
- Bride's grandparents
- Bride and Grooms parents
- Groom's entire family *
- Groom's immediate family
- Groom's siblings
- Groom's parents
- Groom's grandparents
- Bridal party
- Any additinoal shots requested by bride/groom
Do you bring a second shooter to the wedding?
I do not unless it is requested and paid for by the bride and groom.
Should I hire a videographer?
Absolutely!! I have two amazing videographers on my team!
